In connection with the archaeological excavations of Tara Ostrog, which began in 2012, it is important to attract archival materials for the identification of fortifications "Ostrog" and "city", which make up the Tara fortress. The Dozor books of Tara uyezd of 1623/24, 1688/89, and 1702 begin with their descriptions so it is possible to reconstruct the plan of the military fortifications for different time segments of the existence of Tara fortress and to trace changes of place names fortifications.
