Multiscale modeling of strength properties of dispersion-reinforced composite materials produced by additive technologies

Reporter: Zakharova Y.V.

This work is devoted to the modeling of strength properties of the dispersion-reinforced ceramic composite material, taking into account the technological features of its manufacture by the additive technology. Using a multi-scale homogenization method, a three-level model was developed for ceramic composite materials based on the reaction-bonded silicon carbide. Numerical simulation was performed with the use of the finite-element method for solving a set of local problems over the periodicity cells of three structural levels. Numerical investigation of sequential microstructural destruction of ceramic composites up to the final fracture was conducted. It was found that the presence of residual stress reduces the total limiting strength characteristics of the composite under the load. The dependencies of tensile strength ceramic composites on the concentration of coarse ceramics fractions were investigated.
