The Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method is a well-known numerical simulation technique for solving a wide range of problems in electromagnetics, photonics and optoelectronics. An intrinsic property of the FDTD method is that the time –domain field simulation run-times are inversely proportional to the time-step size used; therefore huge computational resources are often required.
